About This Module

Welcome to this online learning module on ECWeb.

One thing everyone in the VA ethics consultation community can agree on is the importance of improving the quality of ethics consultations.

This learning module will introduce you to ECWeb - a groundbreaking web-based tool that will play a key role in helping achieve that important goal.

The purpose of this learning module is to help you:

  • Understand and take full advantage of the different ways that ECWeb can help improve ethics quality

  • Understand the role you will play in using ECWeb

  • Begin using the ECWeb application as quickly and comfortably as possible

Overview

The learning module begins with an Overview of the ECWeb application which will cover, among other things:

  • What ECWeb is

  • The benefits of using ECWeb

  • What your role will be in using ECWeb

  • How ECWeb safeguards confidential information

Tutorials

The Overview is followed by a set of tutorials designed to guide you through the "nitty gritty" details of using ECWeb.

As an ECWeb user, you will be assigned one or more of the following roles:

This module contains one tutorial for each role. You are welcome to complete all of the tutorials. However, at least at first, you should focus on the tutorial or tutorials that correspond to your role(s).

The tutorials will guide you through the completion of key tasks in ECWeb.

Other Resources

Following the tutorials, you'll find additional resources you can turn to for further assistance.

The Frequently-Asked Questions topic contains instructions for how to perform common tasks in ECWeb.

You should think of this learning module not as something you'll use only once, but as a resource you can return to again and again to help you expand your skills in using ECWeb.

There is one other resource you should know about.

If, after you've completed this learning module, you'd like to practice further before you begin entering actual consultation records into ECWeb, you can do so by accessing the training area of ECWeb.

You can enter fictitious data into the training area - and try out each of the different portions of the application - before you begin working with "live" data.

See the Logging In & Out tutorial for instructions on how to access the training area of ECWeb.
